Why Your Etsy Listing Isn't Getting Views (9 Fixes)

A listing that isn't selling usually has one of two problems: no views (an SEO problem) or views but no sales (a conversion problem). Here are the nine most common causes and their fixes.

No views? Fix your SEO

1. Weak title. Your main keyword isn't at the front, or the title is vague. Lead with the exact phrase buyers type.
2. Empty or generic tags. Fill all 13 with multi-word buyer phrases, not single words.
3. Thin description. Open with your keyword phrase and describe the item fully — Etsy and Google index this text.
4. Wrong or missing attributes/category. Etsy uses these to place your listing; fill them accurately.
5. No long-tail coverage. You're only targeting broad, competitive phrases. Add specific ones like "gift for new mom" that you can actually rank for.
6. Stale listing that never refreshes. If a listing has flatlined for months, update the title or tags with better keywords and measure the change.

Views but no sales? Fix conversion

7. Photos that don't sell. The first image decides the click. Show the product clearly, in good light, in context.
8. Price or shipping surprises. If buyers land and leave, check your price against competitors and your shipping cost.
9. Mismatch between title and item. If your title over-promises, buyers bounce — which also hurts ranking.
